I Know Her Quite Well
Inspired by I Know Him So Well – Elaine Page and Barbara Dickson from the musical Chess
Written by Steve Wallis, 7/6/2007
Dedicated to Priya Reddy (warcry) of War Cry Cinema
Is anything so good it lasts eternally?
Perfect situations can go wrong
And this has sometimes encouraged me
To love many so much for so long
Looking back, I could have played it differently
Enjoyed more time with her
– who can tell?
It would take time to understand the woman
Now at least I know her quite well
Wasn’t it good? Oh, so good!
Isn’t she fine? Oh, so fine!
It would be madness
If she won’t be mine
CHORUS:
But in the end she’ll need a lot more from me
She won’t want security
She needs her fantasies and freedom
I know her quite well
No-one in your life is with you constantly
Is only Priya completely on my side?
I would move my world to be with her
Still the ocean between us is quite wide
Looking back, I could have played it differently
Learned more about the woman before I fell for her
I was unusually shy at that Earth First! Gathering
So I only know her quite well
Wouldn’t it be good? Oh, so good!
Won’t she be fine? Oh, so fine!
Wouldn’t it be madness
If she won’t be mine
I didn’t know
How life would go
If I knew from the start
I wouldn’t have kept falling apart
Isn’t she good? Oh, so good!
Isn’t she fine? Oh, so fine!
She doesn’t have madness
She will hopefully be mine
CHORUS:
But in the end she’ll need a lot more from me
She won’t want security
She needs her fantasies and freedom
I know her quite well
I’ll know her so well!
I have recorded the song as a musical poem, in MP3 format.
