Note that I have now produced some tracks for downloading as musical poetry, performed on my own, due to time pressures getting the band established before the Scottish parliamentary elections on the 3rd of May 2007. For more information, or to download tracks, visit my musical poetry page.
All Galaxia tracks will be downloadable from this page when we have recorded them, as both high and low quality MP3 files. I was accompanied by Adam from the Cutting Rooms recording studio on acoustic guitar on the first two tracks listed below, but he was not interested in participating in the band in the future. Both tracks were recorded at the Cutting Rooms, Abraham Moss Centre, City College, Manchester on the 30th of June 2005. I am now based in Glasgow, have recruited a singer/guitarist/keyboard player called Joanne Simpson to the band. I have also come across a bass player called Hira, and particularly want Cath Bann (my strongest collaborator and somebody I fell for romantically, between 1998 and 2003) to join the band.
Note that in the first track we recorded, Do They Know It’s G8 Time?, I sang rather badly. This was due to being very out-of-tune on the first take and having to put up with a much better but still rather out-of-tune version after several takes, due to having more to do that day. I also think that subconsciously I sang badly due to defects in the original lyrics (which I have now corrected to yield substantially improved lyrics); an explanation for the changes can be read by clicking here.
That song was intended to get people hooked; my song The Revolution Starts Now! (now renamed The Revolution Could Have Started Then!) has far more important messages in it and my performance was much better. You are strongly recommended to listen to the latter song (preferably the version I have recorded as musical poetry) and read its improved lyrics. A chapter of my forthcoming book Revolution Destroyed? Have I ensured that a world socialist revolution will never happen? will explain the improvements.
Download either of the tracks, or view the lyrics, or updated lyrics that I (Steve Wallis) have improved since doing the recordings, by clicking on the appropriate link below. I recommend fairly high quality rather than the very low quality versions unless you have an extremely slow internet connection.
