NEW: I, Steve Wallis, reformed Galaxia on the 8th of October at the Cutting Rooms recording studio (Abraham Moss centre, City College, North Manchester). The new line-up consisted of Jonny Faders on acoustic guitar or piano and myself on vocals, but I would like a bigger band involving more instruments and at least one female vocalist. We will do further sessions there and anybody (who agrees enough with my politics) is welcome to come along and participate. Contact me by phoning 07725 735255 or emailing revolutionarysocialiststeve@yahoo.co.uk if you want to join Galaxia. We have so far done recordings of the following songs (just demo versions but they are reasonably good). Click on the MP3 file links below to download/play them (right-clicking may allow you to save them on your computer depending on your web browser):
Note that I have also been in a band called Red Day since January 2008; you may like to go to the Downloads & Lyrics page of the Red Day website.
I also produced some tracks as unaccompanied musical poetry, that I performed in 2007. For more information and to download tracks, visit the musical poetry page of my socialist website.
Additionally, somebody I met at the 2005 Earth First! Gathering, who calls himself Steve the Pro, has produced a brilliant and very funny mix of the Galaxia song The Revolution Starts Now! To download it, click here.
Galaxia tracks are downloadable from this page as MP3 files. I was accompanied by Adam from the Cutting Rooms recording studio on acoustic guitar on the first two tracks listed below, but he did not want to be in the band afterwards. Both tracks were recorded at the Cutting Rooms, Abraham Moss Centre, City College, Manchester on the 30th of June 2005. I am now in a new band called Red Day in Glasgow.
Note that in the first track we recorded, Do They Know It’s G8 Time?, I sang rather badly. This was due to being very out-of-tune on the first take and having to put up with a much better but still rather out-of-tune version after several takes, due to having more to do that day. I also think that subconsciously I sang badly due to defects in the original lyrics (which I have now corrected to yield substantially improved lyrics); an explanation for the changes can be read by clicking here.
That song was intended to get people hooked; my song The Revolution Starts Now! (now renamed The Revolution Could Have Started Then!) has far more important messages in it and my performance was much better. You are strongly recommended to listen to the latter song (preferably the version I have recorded as musical poetry) and read its improved lyrics. A chapter of my forthcoming book Revolution Destroyed? Have I ensured that a world socialist revolution will never happen? will explain the improvements.
Download either of the tracks or the new mix of the second song, or view the lyrics or updated lyrics that I (Steve Wallis) have improved since doing the recordings, by clicking on the appropriate link below. In June 2008, I replaced the files with better quality ones, taken from the originals in AIFF format, because the earlier low quality versions had very bad sound quality.
